Study on improvement of L14 peanut variety by Co60 gamma irradiation on dry seeds Le Duc Thao, Le Cong Nong, Nguyen Van Manh, Pham Thi Bao Chung, Le Thi Anh Hong, Tran Thi Phuong Nhung Abstract With the goal of creating new variations towards changing grain color and improving yield, the peanut variety L14 was irradiated with gamma-rays (Co60) at doses of 150, 180, 200, 220 and 250 Gy on dry seeds. e results showed that a series of phenotypic variations were generated by irradiation doses of 220 and 250 Gy in L14 cultivar; the variation frequency tended to increase with the increasing radiation dose, reaching the highest at 250 Gy in the generations M1 and M2. 05 line mutants benecial for new breeding were selected in M5 generation, including 04 red-seed coats, better tolerance to brown spot disease (score 3) than L14 and 01 lines with the yield higher than L14.
