Hanoi held a ceremony on February 14 to receive recognition for Bat Trang Ceramic Village in Gia Lam District and Van Phuc Silk Weaving Village in Ha Dong District as members of the World Craft Cities network.

The capital city has the highest concentration of craft villages and artisans in the country, with 1,350 craft and trade villages, encompassing 47 out of 52 traditional crafts nationwide.

The ceremony to receive recognition for the Bat Trang Ceramic Village in Gia Lam District and Van Phuc Silk Weaving Village in Ha Dong District as members of the World Craft Cities network.

Each craft village possesses its own unique characteristics, with distinctive products that reflect local cultural styles and maintain strong competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

The villages of Bat Trang and Van Phuc are not only symbols of Vietnamese traditional craftsmanship, they also create artistic works that crystallise the talent and dedication of skilled craftsmen and artisans.

The recognition of Bat Trang Ceramic Village and Van Phuc Silk Weaving Village as members of the World Network of Creative Craft Cities is not only a source of pride but also evidence of the efforts to preserve and promote traditional values while meeting contemporary demands.

In the future, Hanoi will continue to collaborate with international organisations, particularly the World Crafts Council, to further promote the city’s craft excellence and effectively preserve and enhance its craft village heritage.
