OPTIMAL PLACEMENT AND SIZING OF DISTRIBUTED GENERATIONS AND SHUNT CAPACITOR BANKS ON DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS Abstract: This paper uses Particle Swarm Optimization to optimize the placement and sizing of distributed generations and capacitors on distribution networks to reduce the loss of active power and improve the voltage stability at the nodes. To ensure the safe, efficient and economic operation of distribution systems, in addition to the constraints on power balance equations of the source, load, distributed generator (DG), capacitors and power losses on line are studied, then the constraints of inequalities such as limit of power generation of DG, capacitor, and limit of bus voltage are considered in this problem. The experimental results on IEEE 33-bus distribution grid with the objective function of minimizing active power loss have proved the effectiveness of this proposed method.
