A MULTI-STAGE SOLUTION TO GLOBAL MAXIMUM POWER POINT TRACKING OF THE PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM UNDER PARTIAL SHADING Abstract: The power of a photovoltaic (PV) system is significantly dependent on the operating conditions. This energy is directly proportional to solar radiation and inversely ratio to its surface temperature. In addition, the power-voltage (P-V) current-voltage (I-V) curves have multiple peak power points when the operating conditions between the modules in the system are not uniform. It is the biggest challenge of global maximum power point tracking (GMPPT) and avoidance of local extremes to get the best performance. This paper introduces a multilayer GMPPT technique in a heterogeneous environment when partially shading due to natural phenomena. In particular, the first stage has the task of narrowing the search scope to find the potential point. Then increase MPPT speed and efficiency by basic P&O algorithm in the next stage. The results obtained through simulation by PSIM software are compared with other optimization algorithms, showing the superiority of the proposed solution in improving the speed, performance, and stability of the PV system.
